FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does "Zoograde" mean?

Your pets will get the same level of care as animals in zoological environments. Zoo animals are often provided with care and maintenance standards which meet or exceed government regulations. They receive daily visual examinations as well as regular veterinary check-ups. Animals in zoos are equipped with caretakers who are familiar with the individual as well as their diet, behavior, and appearance

But aren't zoo's bad?

This is a common misperception. But the truth is zoos are often the best hope or even last hope for the survival of a species, especially if they are threatened or endangered. Having animals in protection provides a reservoir against a population crash in the wild. Zoos have helped remove animals from the endangered species list and have saved many from extinction. Without the efforts of zoos, there would be fewer animal species alive today

Is boarding at a facility?

Boarding takes place in the homes of the sitters. This gives a safe "at home" feeling and often soothes the nerves of anxious dogs. We hope to get a facility in the future and plan on making it just as warm and inviting

Will my dogs be caged?

Dogs are only crated if requested by you. The dogs get free roam of the house if they're well behaved. If the sitter see's it fit for the safety of the dogs, they will be assigned a play pen to stay in while the sitter is away from home or asleep. We like this option over crates because it gives dogs plenty of space to stretch out and walk around. We often find that these pens provide a secure space for dogs who may be feeling anxious or unsure of the other dogs in the house. If assigned a pen, they will have their own bed as well as blankets, toys and bones to keep them busy, water, and their food may be left down if they're grazers at home and eat better this way. The dogs seem to enjoy these spaces and will even go in on their own.

Will my dog be with other dogs?

Yes. In order to be boarded in a sitters home, we require that dogs get along well with other pets and we do not accept unvaccinated dogs. We also require that all dogs coming into our homes be treated for fleas and heartworm. We keep space limited and don't typically have more than 6 dogs sleeping over at once.

What if my dog is not dog friendly?

We do have other options available. We offer in home sitting in which the sitter stays in your home with your pets. If this is something that is not as affordable to you or if you simply don't want someone in your home, we do have the ability to keep dogs separate in our homes. If you need to board your dog in a sitters home and book far enough in advance, you may request for yours to be the only dog for an extra fee

What should I bring for my dog for a boarding?

Just their food and any meds they may need. Our sitters have plenty of beds, bowls, bones, and toys to share! If your dog has a special bed, blanket, or toy feel free to bring it along!

What times should I drop off and pick up my dog?

This can be discussed with the individual sitter once booked. Ideally, dropping off any time after 8am is appreciated as we need time to start the days of the dogs already in house. On day of pick up, a day care fee will be charged for pick up after 12pm. If picked up after 6pm an after hours fee will be added. This is to make up for a space that could have been booked in place of your dog as we do have limited space
